Preparation Tips for SBI Junior Associate Exam

There are four subjects that are included in the SBI Clerk syllabus Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning Ability, English Language and General/Banking Awareness and the key to crack the exam is solving more questions efficiently within the stipulated time.

Given below are the tips which will help candidates boost their marks for the upcoming Junior Associate examination:

  • Solve Mock Tests and Practise Papers – The best way to understand the exam pattern and type of questions asked in the exam is by solving mock tests. These are easily available online based on the latest pattern and can help the candidate experience the examination-hall atmosphere at home
  • Look for Shortcut Tricks – Lengthy calculations can be made easy by applying shortcuts tricks. This can be time-saving and helpful in scoring more marks
  • Work on Time Management – Candidates are provided with 60 minutes to answer 100 questions in the prelims examination and 190 questions in 2 hours 45 minutes. Thus, solving more questions within a shorter time span is of utmost importance. Thus, ensure that you calculate the time taken to solve questions while preparing at home
  • Revise Basic Formulas for Numerical Ability – There are certain formulae that can reduce the calculations and help in getting answers easily. The focus must be on solving questions by applying these formulae
  • Focus on Grammar Rules for English Language Section – One of the sections where maximum candidates tend to lose marks in the English Language section. This is due to the similar-sounding options provided along with each question. Thus, being aware of the basic English grammar rules is extremely important to score in this section. Since SBI has removed sectional cut off, scoring more in English can increase the overall total marks
  • Refer to Previous Year Question Papers – This will help candidates apprehend the standard of examination and also analyse the topics which are important from the examination perspective. There are certain main topics based on which questions are asked every year, thus, focusing slightly more on them can be a big boost for the candidates
  • Focus on Puzzles, Data Interpretation, Seating Arrangement Questions – Generally questions based on puzzles and seating arrangement in the reasoning section cover 8-15 marks in the prelims phase of the examination. This is based on an analysis of previous year papers. The same is applicable for Data Interpretation in Quantitative Aptitude. Thus, if a candidate is well prepared for these topics then they can increase their overall marks in the examination
  • Don’t leave anything for the last minute – The last one month before the examination must be entirely dedicated to revision. No new topics must be picked up and all the documents required to be carried at the exam centre must be readily available. Candidates must leave no scope of panic and stress during the last few days and hours before the examination. Being calm and composed will help candidates avoid silly mistakes

It is also advised that candidates must once go through the previous year cut off marks and analyse the trend increase or decrease in the minimum qualifying marks over the years. Though the trend may not entirely help in apprehending the cut off for this year but can still be useful in estimating good attempts for the upcoming examination.
